Step 1:
Chop the onion.

Cut the carrots into cubes.

Sauté the onion and carrots in the butter in the slow cooker bowl on the Sauté setting for 5 minutes.

Add the water, pearl barley, and salt, then switch to the Stew setting for 40 minutes.

Slice the sausages.

Step 6:
After 20 minutes, stir the sausages into the porridge.

Ten minutes later, add the broccoli and finish cooking.
