Beet and Ginger Spread
This spread has a mellow flavor, with ginger bringing warmth and aroma. Beet spread makes a wonderful cold vegetable appetizer and a true treasure trove of vitamins. The ginger adds a little kick and a distinctive fragrance, and it's versatile enough to serve as a salad or to spread on sandwiches.
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
Gather the ingredients. I only had frozen herbs on hand.
-
Step 2:
Finely chop the onion and grate the beets on the coarse side of a grater.
-
Step 3:
Put the beets and onion in a deep skillet and simmer in the vegetable oil for 10–15 minutes.
-
Step 4:
Grate the ginger root and the garlic.
-
Step 5:
Add them to the beets. Season the spread with salt and the other spices. Don't forget the hot peppercorn mix — it makes the spread pleasantly spicy and very fragrant. Simmer another 20–30 minutes, until done.
-
Step 6:
The spread is ready. Enjoy!
