Step-by-step cooking
Step 1:
Prepare all the necessary products. It is best to take the fish chilled - frozen contains much less nutrients. Mackerel is a rather fatty fish, and therefore useful, so choose a bigger and fatter fish. She may be with her head and already gutted - it doesn't matter.
Step 2:
Wash and peel the vegetables. Try to cut the skin thinner. I use a vegetable peeler for this purpose. A knife will not be able to thinly cut the peel.
Step 3:
Cut the vegetables in your favorite way, but do not mince them - they should be of medium size so that after baking they remain tasty and juicy. I recommend slicing potatoes into slices, onions with feathers, and carrots with mugs.
Step 4:
Choose a heat-resistant form in which you will cook the dish. Mix the vegetables around the edges, leaving a place for fish in the center.
Step 5:
Pour half the vegetable oil over the vegetables. I note that the oil can be anything: from the simplest sunflower and corn to expensive olive.
Step 6:
Now it's the fish's turn. First of all, it must be gutted and the gills must be removed. Of course, a whole fish with its head baked in a mold will look very nice. But such a dish is inconvenient to eat, so I recommend cutting off the head and cutting the carcass into small pieces.
Step 7:
Place the fish beautifully in the center of the mold.
Step 8:
Add a little salt. Now you can add your favorite seasonings to the dish and give it a certain shade. If you like it sharper, then add pepper and crushed garlic. Herbs will be very appropriate here: thyme, rosemary and basil are perfectly combined with fish. Or add a few slices of lemon or lime to the vegetables.
Step 9:
Pour the remaining vegetable oil over the fish. Bake in a preheated 180 degree oven for about 45 minutes. If you prefer a stewed version, then cover the mold with foil and cook with it, 10-15 minutes before the end of cooking, the foil can be removed for browning.
Step 10:
Serve the fish immediately while it is hot. Such a dish looks very nice right in the form on the festive table. Bon appetit!
