Composition / ingredients
Step-by-step cooking
Step 1:
How to bake a muffin roll with poppy seeds? Measure out the ingredients for the dough. If you don't want to cook too big a roll, make a small one, taking half of all the products - as I did. That is, you can cook not for 8, but for 4 servings - because baking turns out to be quite high in calories. Take fast-acting yeast that mixes directly with flour. Wash the eggs directly in the shell and dry them with napkins.
Step 2:
Melt the butter in any way that suits you and cool it. The easiest way to do this is in the microwave.
Step 3:
Beat the eggs into a bowl and beat until smooth with a whisk or mixer. Separately sift the wheat flour through a fine sieve.
Step 4:
Pour dry yeast, sugar and salt into the sifted flour, mix.
Step 5:
Pour warm water into the flour mixture, add beaten eggs and melted butter. Mix it up. Note that you may have more or less flour than indicated in the composition. Therefore, it is better to look at the consistency of the dough and do not add all the flour at once, pour it gradually, in parts.
Step 6:
Knead a soft homogeneous dough. Roll the dough into a ball and, covering it with a towel, leave it warm for 1 hour. If the room is cool, you can slightly preheat the oven (approx. 30 ° C) and put the dough in it. So it is guaranteed to rise.
Step 7:
Prepare the products for the filling. To prepare the filling, we will need: 250 g of poppy seeds; 80 g of honey; 50 g of sugar.
Step 8:
Pour boiling water over the poppy and leave to swell for 30 minutes.
Step 9:
Then drain the water and dry the poppy. If you don't like the crunch of a whole poppy, you can grind the filling in a coffee grinder or grind it in a mortar after drying.
Step 10:
Combine poppy seeds, honey and sugar in a bowl.
Step 11:
Mix the filling well.
Step 12:
Knead the dough and roll it out on a table dusted with flour into an even rectangle.
Step 13:
Spread the poppy seed filling evenly over the dough, leaving 1-1.5 cm from the edges.
Step 14:
Turn up the side edges so that the filling does not leak out and roll the dough into a tight roll.
Step 15:
Transfer the roll to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Step 16:
Prepare the mixture to lubricate the roll. To do this, break one egg into a bowl and beat it with a fork until smooth.
Step 17:
Grease the raw roll with beaten egg. Bake the roll in a preheated 180 ° C oven for about 30 minutes. Determine the exact time and temperature of baking according to your oven.
Step 18:
Cool the finished roll slightly and cut into pieces. Enjoy your meal!
Don't let the number of steps frighten you: preparing such a roll is really simple. The only difficulty may arise with yeast dough. But two things are important here: good fresh yeast (do not use expired bags, as well as those that have been open for a long time) and warm (not hot!) water. Otherwise, the kneading of the yeast dough will pass without problems.
Be prepared for the fact that flour may need more or less than indicated in the recipe. Focus not on the amount of flour, but on the desired consistency of the dough. To avoid mistakes, read about flour and its properties!
Keep in mind that everyone's ovens are different. The temperature and cooking time may differ from those specified in the recipe. To make any baked dish successful, use useful information about the features of ovens !
