Step-by-step cooking
Step 1:
Prepare all the ingredients.
Step 2:
Sift flour. Add salt, soda, stevia (or sugar). Mix all the good stuff.
Step 3:
In a separate bowl, mix the water with vegetable oil.
Step 4:
Pour the mixture of water and oil into the flour. Mix well with a fork until it becomes difficult to stir. Then knead with your hands. The dough should not be too tight and stick to your hands a little.
Step 5:
Form a ball of dough, cover with a film or lid and send it to the refrigerator for half an hour.
Step 6:
We take the cooled dough out of the refrigerator. The board or the place where you will roll out the dough, sprinkle a little rye flour and roll out the dough. The thickness depends on what kind of tortillas you want, hard or soft. The thinner the dough is rolled out, the harder and crisper the tortillas will be. To be soft, roll out about 1 cm thick, so that they are firm - 0.5 cm.
Step 7:
On the rolled dough, using a glass or other special devices, we cut out circles. You can also use a knife to cut into squares, rhombuses or cut out different shapes for cookies.
Step 8:
We spread our tortillas on a baking sheet with parchment and pierce them with a fork so that they are evenly baked and bubbles do not form.
Step 9:
Put the tortillas in the preheated oven to 180 degrees and bake for 10-15 minutes. If the tortillas are dense and browned, then they are ready. But do not miss the moment, otherwise they will burn.
These tortillas are a godsend. Firstly, it is very easy to cook, secondly, dietary, without yeast and white wheat flour, which adds to their benefits.
They taste neutral. They can be used to form a sandwich with vegetables, herbs, cheese, meat products or spread with honey or jam. They can also be eaten with first or second courses in a bite.
They can be made softer, for example, for sandwiches, and harder and crisper, if you really like to crunch, like me.
So be sure to try these rye tortillas to cook at home in the oven and it will become your permanent favorite dish, instead of store-bought bread, for the whole family.
Bon appetit!
