We really liked such hot sandwiches! Hearty, with crusty bread and melted cheese on top, very tasty! They are cooked for one or two, they are also eaten quickly. They are good both hot and cold.
You can add finely chopped greens to the filling - dill, parsley. Onions can be replaced with green.
It is not necessary to take a loaf as bread - both toast and wheat will do, but I don't know how it will work with rye.
If there is no time at all for cooking, or there is no oven, then fry the pieces of bread in a frying pan and put the filling on the finished toasts. Cheese then sprinkle is not necessary. Or you can sprinkle and hold the sandwiches in a frying pan under the lid until it melts.
It will be delicious to add a tomato. It should be cut into circles and put on the filling before the cheese.
Canned fish can be any - both sardine and pink salmon are suitable.
If you still have the filling, then add boiled chopped potatoes to it - you will get a salad.

Shake the can before buying. The more liquid there is in it, the smaller the fish.

Keep in mind that everyone's ovens are different. The temperature and cooking time may differ from those specified in the recipe. To make any baked dish successful, use useful information about the features of ovens !

It is better to prepare mayonnaise yourself. It will be tastier and healthier. See here interesting recipes for homemade mayonnaise.
Also, as a dressing, you can use not only mayonnaise, but also sour cream or natural yogurt. They can be taken separately or mixed with mayonnaise in any proportion to your taste - this will reduce the calorie content of the dish.
