Step 1:
How to bake apples in pieces in the oven? Measure the ingredients according to the list. You can take any apples, even the most sour ones. Just adjust their acid by the volume of sugar or any sweetener that is not afraid of heat treatment. Wash the apples well. I don't peel the skin off them, so they keep their shape better. I first took 2 apples, but it turned out that it was not enough, so I later added another one.
Step 2:
Start cooking the syrup. To do this, combine water, lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon and star anise in a saucepan. Put the saucepan on the stove and bring its contents to a boil.
Step 3:
Remove the core from the apples and cut into thick rings (3-4 rings from each apple).
Step 4:
Place the apple rings in a baking dish in one layer. I didn't lubricate the form with anything.
Step 5:
Pour boiling syrup over the apple mugs. The syrup should slightly cover the surface of the apples. Place the mold in a preheated 220 ° oven for 15 minutes. Then reduce the temperature to 200 ° C and bake for another 10 minutes. Determine the temperature and baking time strictly according to your oven.
Step 6:
Cool the apples completely, sprinkle with ground cinnamon and you can serve to the table. Bon appetit!
I liked this recipe a long time ago in the blog of Venus Osepchuk. Finally, I had the opportunity to cook such apples. Venus advises sprinkling the finished apples with powdered sugar. I do not advise doing this, because they turn out to be too cloying. Cinnamon is enough.
You can also use honey or molasses instead of sugar.
Apples should be dense, not loose, otherwise during baking they will lose their shape and instead of beautiful rings and you will have boiled applesauce. It is better to take apples of different diameters - so the dish will look more spectacular. Very tasty. Serve with tea, coffee, and best of all - with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Keep in mind that everyone's ovens are different. The temperature and cooking time may differ from those specified in the recipe. To make any baked dish successful, use useful information about the features of ovens !
In order for the oven to have time to heat up to the desired temperature, turn it on in advance (10-20 minutes before cooking).
For cooking, it is better to use filtered or bottled water that is neutral to taste. If you use tap water, keep in mind that it can give the dish an unpleasant characteristic taste.
