Step-by-step cooking
Step 1:
To prepare the roll, take the fat along with the skin. It is best to take such a piece so that there is a small layer of meat. Wash the piece, peel the skin and dry it well with paper towels.
Step 2:
Sprinkle a piece of lard liberally with salt and spices. Ground black pepper and paprika can be used as spices. Peel a few cloves of garlic and chop them. Spread the crushed garlic over the entire surface of the fat. Rub all the spices into the lard with your hands.
Step 3:
Then roll the fat into a roll together with the skin. Wrap the roll with a thread in several layers so that it does not fall apart when cooking.
Step 4:
Wrap the roll in foil and leave to stand for a couple of hours so that the fat is slightly salted. Then put the roll in foil in a baking dish and put it in the oven, preheated to 180 degrees, for 1.5 hours.
Step 5:
20 minutes before the end of the cooking time, you can open the top layer of foil and leave it to bake in the oven to remove excess moisture and dry the roll a little. Cool the finished roll, remove the threads from it and put it in the refrigerator so that it freezes. To serve, cut the roll into portions and put it on a plate. Enjoy your meal!
If you have only lard for making a roll, without a layer, then you can add meat separately. Both pork and chicken can be used for additives. Just cut the meat into pieces and wrap it in a roll with spices. And if the fat, like mine, is already with a meat layer, then you don't need to add anything. And it will be very tasty. Garlic in a roll gives the roll a very appetizing aroma and taste.
Such a roll can not only be baked in the oven. You can just boil it in a regular saucepan. But for the flavor, you will need to add salt, spices and bay leaf to the water.
But, in my opinion, it's much more convenient to cook it in the oven, since you don't have to stand over it and guard.
