Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 1 h 20 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to bake bread on beer with basil? The recipe is very simple and fast. First, prepare the necessary ingredients according to the list. Take the flour of the highest grade. Beer - tastier and more fragrant, light or dark - choose for yourself. you can replace brown sugar with regular sugar.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

In a bowl, combine the sifted flour, brown sugar, baking powder and salt. Mix everything with a spoon. If you have self-raising flour, you do not need to add baking powder to the dough. Please note that you may take more or less flour than I do. Be guided by the consistency of the dough.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Wash, dry and finely chop the basil with a knife. Basil can be replaced with parsley or other fresh herbs to taste - green onions, coriander, wild cherry, dill or even a mixture of different herbs. Don't be afraid to experiment. Basil makes a delightfully fragrant bread.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Pour the chopped basil into the flour.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Then pour in the beer. Use a spatula or your hands to knead a slightly sticky dough.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Add some more flour if necessary. Focus on the consistency. Depending on the quality of the flour, it may need more or less. If the dough turns out to be too dense, pour in some more beer. If, on the contrary, it is a little runny, add more flour, but you do not need to hammer the dough with flour too much. I didn't need any extra flour. The proportions are quite accurate.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Line the bread pan (I have 10×18 cm) with parchment. Lightly grease the parchment with vegetable oil so that the bread does not stick to the paper. Place the dough in a mold, forming a kind of loaf. The dough should not bulge out of the mold too much, so that it has a place to grow when baking. Put the bread in a preheated 180 ° C oven and bake for 35-45 minutes until golden brown. It is better to put a mold with water on the bottom of the oven.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Remove the bread pan from the oven and leave it under a towel until it cools completely. Although basil usually turns black quickly during heat treatment, but in this bread it has retained its green color, except that it has only darkened a little. Bon appetit!

Be prepared for the fact that flour may need more or less than indicated in the recipe. Focus not on the amount of flour, but on the desired consistency of the dough. To avoid mistakes, read about flour and its properties!

Keep in mind that everyone's ovens are different. The temperature and cooking time may differ from those specified in the recipe. To make any baked dish successful, use useful information about the features of ovens !

When the top layer of baking is slightly browned, check it for readiness: pierce it with a wooden skewer in several places, if the skewer comes out dry, then the form (or baking tray) can be taken out of the oven.
