Cheese-free pizza with sausage in the oven

A simple, tasty, fragrant, and filling dish! It's hard to call this a true classic pizza, but despite having no cheese, it comes out quite tasty — with a thin crust and crisp edges. A great addition to a cup of tea or a light snack.

Cooking method

Cooking time: 40 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1

Gather the ingredients from the list. You can adjust the toppings to taste — the main thing is that they go well together. We'll make a quick, unleavened dough so the pizza turns out thin and crisp. Crack the egg into a bowl.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2

Add 2 tablespoons each of sour cream and mayonnaise, and stir.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3

Add the sifted flour and the baking soda slaked with table vinegar.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4

Knead a smooth, elastic dough. This dough doesn't need to chill in the refrigerator — you can let it rest at room temperature while you prep the toppings; 15 minutes in a towel-covered bowl is enough.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5

Roll the dough out on a floured surface into a thin sheet the size of your baking pan. Grease the bottom of the pan with butter and lay the dough in it.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6

Spread the dough with a mixture of mayonnaise and tomato sauce. I used homemade tomato sauce; you can use ketchup or tomato paste instead, or, if you don't have those on hand, just mayonnaise, and use fresh tomatoes sliced into rounds in place of the tomato sauce.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7

To make the pizza more filling, you can use a little boiled or baked potato. Slice the potato into thin rounds and lay them on the dough. It's optional, though — I used some leftover baked potato.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8

Peel the onion and cut it into rings or half-rings.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9

Cut the pickles into half-moons or small cubes. Instead of pickles, you can use olives or capers if you like.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10

Lay the semi-smoked sausage, cut into strips, on top; you can also use boiled or smoked sausage or hot dogs.

  11. Step 11:

    Step 11

Wash the bell pepper, cut out the stem and seed core, and cut the flesh into strips or half-rings. Since we already used tomato paste in the sauce, there's no need to add tomatoes. You can also use other vegetables, including frozen ones, or mushrooms.

  12. Step 12:

    Step 12

Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Put the pizza in the oven for 25 minutes; the baking time depends on your oven. Take the pizza out, let it cool a little, cut it into pieces, and serve. Enjoy!
