Cooking method

Cooking time: 30 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1

How do you make bell pepper and ham salad? Gather the ingredients.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2

Cut the boiled potato into cubes.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3

Cut the ham into cubes as well.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4

Finely chop half of a small onion.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5

Cut the pickles into small cubes.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6

Seed the half bell pepper and cut it into cubes.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7

Dice the eggs along with everything else—or, if you're making a layered salad, I'd suggest separating the whites and yolks and grating them on the fine side of a grater.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8

Mix the diced ingredients together and dress them with the mayonnaise stirred together with the mustard. Or build the salad in layers, spreading dressing on each one. I layered mine in this order: potato, ham, onion, pickles, bell pepper, egg white, yolk. If you go with layers, let the salad sit for about an hour before serving so the layers set. Enjoy your meal!

  • It's better to make the mayonnaise yourself—it'll be tastier and healthier. See some great homemade mayonnaise recipes here. You can also use not just mayonnaise as a dressing but sour cream or plain yogurt. Use them on their own or mix them with mayonnaise in any ratio you like—it'll cut the calories.
  • How do you make hard-boiled eggs? To keep the eggs from cracking as they cook, put them in cold water and set them on low heat. Boil the eggs for 9 minutes after the water comes to a boil, then pour off the hot water and cool them in cold. The sudden temperature change makes the shells easier to peel.
  • The salad will look neat and attractive if you cut all the ingredients into pieces of the same size and shape (cubes, for example).
