Prepare the ingredients for the tortilla dough on water. We will prepare unleavened tortillas, which will be suitable as an alternative to bread, of course, more delicious, for soup or a second. To this set, you can add half a tablespoon of sugar and you will get quite dessert cakes for tea or milk, to which you can serve jam, jam or condensed milk.
Pour the sifted wheat flour into a bowl. Add half a teaspoon of salt. Who wants to make salty tortillas, you can increase the amount of salt. Mix the flour with salt, make a recess in the middle and pour in a glass of cold clean filtered water. You can use carbonated water, then the tortillas will turn out to be more airy and bubbly, especially if you fry them in vegetable oil in a frying pan.
Also, the dough for tortillas can be made on water – boiling water, it will turn out like a custard dough. Tortillas also from such dough will turn out thin, bubbly and crispy when fried in oil.
We knead elastic obedient dough with our hands. If it sticks to your hands, you need to add a little flour. But if the flour is superfluous, then the dough will begin to crumble, which is unacceptable, so you need to add a little flour if necessary.
If time allows, it is better to give the test a little rest. To do this, wrap it with cling film and put it in the refrigerator for half an hour.
After the specified time, we take out the dough, divide it into several parts, roll out thin tortillas and fry in a dry pan or in oil, depending on which tortillas you want to get: soft or crispy.
Bon appetit!
