Red kvass from beetroot at home

Unusual, but very tasty recipe. Try! Traditionally, we understand by the word "kvass" a drink made from white or rye bread. But, it turns out, there are a large number of recipes for kvass from a wide variety of food. I decided to experiment a little and cook some such unusual kvass. The most interesting to me was red kvass from raw beetroot. I can say that the kvass turned out to be quite tasty. Now I will tell you how to prepare this drink.

    Cut the bread into medium-sized pieces.

    Cut off the tails of the washed beetroot. Cut the beets into medium-sized pieces.

    Put sliced bread and beets in a washed and dried three-liter jar.

    Pour sugar into the jar.

    Pour all two liters of boiling water and cover with a towel (so that dust does not fly, but air gets in). After about 1 day, bubbles will begin to appear on the surface - the beginning of fermentation. If fermentation does not begin (it is delayed), then you can put 3 pieces of raisins in a jar that is not washed - this will speed up the fermentation process.

    After 3 days the kvass is ready. Cool the drink in the refrigerator and you can enjoy this drink, or you can use it when cooking borscht.
