The Blue Hawaii cocktail first appeared in 1957 in Honolulu, which is actually the capital of the state of Hawaii. It was invented by the bartender Harry Yi by order of a sales representative of a company that was promoting its new liquor of an unusual color called Blue Curacao.
This liqueur is an alcoholic drink of bright blue color, which is obtained by infusing wine alcohol on the dried peel of oranges of a special variety. It is the essential oil of this bitter orange that gives this popular drink a beautiful heavenly color and an amazing citrus aroma. By itself, Blue Curacao liqueur is rarely drunk - for this its taste is too cloying. And just for this reason, he especially needed promotion, which the bartender Harry coped with perfectly, creating an excellent sky-blue cocktail with the loud name "Blue Hawaii".
However, now you don't need to fly to Hawaii to try this unusual cocktail. With all the necessary ingredients at hand, this wonderful drink can be prepared right at home.
First you need to place a cocktail glass in the refrigerator or freezer for cooling.
Then mix coconut rum, Blue Curacao liqueur and pineapple juice. Pour this mixture into a special shaker and shake well to mix all the ingredients together.
Grind the ice to fine crumbs using a special blender nozzle.
Next, fill the chilled glass with ice chips for 1/3 of its part. And add to the top with a mixture of liqueur, rum and pineapple juice, previously shaken in a shaker.
Before serving, the drink should be decorated with pineapple slices and cocktail cherries, served with a drinking tube.
Have fun parties! ;)
