Step-by-step cooking
Step 1:
We will prepare all the necessary ingredients for making a salad from celery root and apples.
Step 2:
Wash the celery root, wipe and peel off the dense peel. Then cut into a very thin, not long straw. Of course, you can also grate it on a coarse grater, it will be faster. But I prefer to cut it thinly, for the reason that the vegetable does not crumple and remains juicy much longer.
Step 3:
If you have grated the celery root, then you will need to grate the apple so that the structure of the salad is the same. We will cut the apple into thin strips like the root. But since the apple darkens very quickly, we will prepare a bowl with cold water, where we will add one tablespoon of 6% vinegar. Wash the apple, remove the core with the seeds and cut into thin strips. We put each chopped portion in a bowl with water, completely immersing them.
Step 4:
After the whole apple is cut, take it out of the water and dry it quickly with a paper towel. Add the apple straws to the chopped celery root.
Step 5:
Add mayonnaise to the salad bowl and mix thoroughly. Let it stand for 5 minutes. The easiest way to do this is in a wide dish.
Step 6:
Salt to taste and mix.
Step 7:
Transfer to a plate and serve.
Step 8:
Bon appetit.
Celery root should be undamaged, without signs of rot and dense. If it does not correspond to at least one of the listed descriptions, it is better to refuse such a vegetable. The apple should also be fresh and best of all sweet and sour in taste. To make it softer, add chopped boiled eggs, and for sharpness a little green onion. In general, you can add vegetables or meat products to your taste. Salad can be dressed like me with mayonnaise, but if you don't like it or you can't, season with sour cream or natural yogurt. And for the lean version, a mixture of vegetable oil, soy sauce, mustard, lemon juice and sugar. It will also be very tasty.
