"Goldfish" Salmon Salad
Your guests will be thrilled! A stunning light, fresh, and original salad. I fell in love with this presentation while hunting for something a little different for a celebration. It's a breeze to put together, and that light, delicate flavor was a wonderful surprise. Let's get started!
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
How do you make the "Goldfish" salmon salad? Gather your ingredients: boil the potatoes, carrots, and eggs, and rinse and dry any salad greens you're using as a bed.
-
Step 2:
Dice the carrots and potatoes.
-
Step 3:
Finely chop the onion.
-
Step 4:
Dice the salmon.
-
Step 5:
Stir everything together with the mayonnaise and mound it onto your serving plate, on top of the greens.
-
Step 6:
Sprinkle finely grated egg over the top. Shape the salad into a fish, lay carrot rounds over it for scales, and use egg to form an eye.
-
Step 7:
Use bits of black olive for the eyelashes and pupil. Done! Ready to go straight to the party table!
- Give this little salad a try and it'll become a regular on your party table — it's already a fixture on mine!
- It's worth making your own mayonnaise — it tastes better and is better for you. You can also use sour cream or plain yogurt as the dressing instead of, or mixed with, the mayonnaise in any ratio you like, which lightens up the dish.
- How do you hard-boil eggs? To keep them from cracking, start them in cold water over low heat. Boil for 9 minutes once the water comes to a boil, then transfer to cold water to cool — the sudden temperature change makes them easier to peel.
