Cooking method
-
Step 1:
How do you make Mosaic salad with imitation crab? Gather your ingredients. Hard-boil the eggs ahead of time.
-
Step 2:
Cut one crab stick diagonally into 8 slices for garnish. Cut the rest into cubes.
-
Step 3:
Cut the bell pepper into cubes too. Red pepper is best for a bright, contrasting color, but green works if that's what you have — it won't change the flavor.
-
Step 4:
Dice the cucumbers and chop the green onion and dill. Set aside about 1 tablespoon of green onion for garnish.
-
Step 5:
Dice the hard-boiled eggs.
-
Step 6:
Open the can of corn and drain it. Set aside a tablespoon for garnish and add the rest to the salad.
-
Step 7:
Put all the ingredients in a bowl and mix with the mayonnaise.
-
Step 8:
Mound the Mosaic salad in a serving bowl or on a plate. Now garnish: gently flatten the top of the mound and add the reserved tablespoon of corn. Arrange the crab-stick slices on four sides, with green onion and dill between them, pressing them lightly into the salad.
-
Step 9:
Your delicious, refreshing Mosaic salad with imitation crab is ready! Enjoy — and so will your family!
- It's best to make the mayonnaise yourself — it'll be tastier and better for you; look for good homemade mayonnaise recipes. You can also use sour cream or plain yogurt as the dressing instead of mayonnaise, on their own or mixed with mayo in any ratio you like, which lightens the dish.
- How do you hard-boil eggs? To keep them from cracking, place them in cold water and bring it to a gentle boil. Cook for 9 minutes after the water boils, then drain and cover with cold water to cool. The sudden temperature change makes them easier to peel.
- How do you choose good canned corn? Always check the expiration date on the can. If it's in a glass jar, look closely at the kernels — they should be uniform in size and color, whole, and unblemished. There shouldn't be any dyes, preservatives, or flavor enhancers in the ingredients.
