- This recipe is right for anyone who watches their figure and tries to eat only wholesome, nourishing food. A filling, nutritious smoothie like this is a great alternative to the usual bowl of oatmeal many of us are used to having for breakfast. It's very simple and easy to make — all you need is a blender to whip everything into one smooth mass. So the oat flakes aren't hard and don't stand out from the smooth, drinkable consistency, it's best to soak them for a while. Put the right amount of flakes in a cup and cover them with half the portion of kefir for at least an hour (longer is fine). If you're planning the smoothie as a quick breakfast, you can pour kefir over the oats the night before and put them in the refrigerator. Next, prepare the rest of the ingredients — wash and dry the fruit and peel it. Break the banana (a ripe, soft one is best) into medium pieces and drop it into the blender. Finely dice the apple (choose whatever variety you like) with a sharp knife. Add the remaining kefir to the fruit, along with a little maple syrup for sweetness (optional). Any fat content of kefir works for smoothies — it just makes the smoothie thinner or thicker accordingly. Once the fruit, kefir, and syrup are in the blender, turn it on and blend everything together on low speed. You should get a smooth, drinkable mass with little bits of apple throughout. Then add the oat flakes you soaked in kefir and blend again, gradually increasing the speed. There's no need to blend the oats too much — the fiber in them is very good for the body. And that's it! A delicious, healthy breakfast is ready! All that's left is to garnish it however you like (optional) — with cocoa, cinnamon, seeds, or chopped nuts, for instance. Enjoy!
