Cooking method

Cooking time: 30 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1

Hard-boil the eggs, then cool them under cold running water and grate them on the fine holes of a grater. Grate the crab sticks and the processed cheese the same way (the cheese is easiest to grate straight from the freezer). Put everything in a deep bowl and mix.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2

Now add a little mayonnaise, a clove of garlic pressed through a garlic press, and a pinch of salt. Mix again until the mixture is smooth and sticky. Note: don't add too much mayonnaise, or the mixture will be hard to shape and the snowman may end up lumpy.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3

Roll the crab mixture into round balls of different sizes: the bottom is the largest, the middle a bit smaller, the head a bit smaller than that, plus two tiny balls for arms. Coat each ball with cream cheese so the snowman turns out nice and white, then roll each one in shredded coconut.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4

Set the balls on a plastic-wrap-lined board, cover them with more wrap, and chill them in the freezer for a while. Once firm, take them out and assemble the snowman: stack the three balls largest to smallest, securing them with toothpicks for stability. Then push two more toothpicks into the sides of the middle ball and attach the two tiniest balls as arms.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5

Now decorate. Cut a small pointed triangle of carrot for the nose. Wrap a stalk of green onion between the head and middle ball for a scarf, fixing it in place with the whole clove. For the hat, cut two rounds of rye bread—one larger, one smaller—and stack them on top of the head. Use peppercorns for the eyes, then add any other decorations you like.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6

Once the snowman is fully assembled, return it to the freezer. Take it out 15–20 minutes before serving.
