  • This soup is easy to make and comes out wholesome and nourishing. In Korea it's considered especially good for women — for instance, while breastfeeding — but you certainly don't have to be one to enjoy it; the guys will love it just as much! :) 1. Rinse the dried seaweed and cut it into bite-size pieces if needed. Rinse the beef under running water (a tender cut like fillet works best) and slice it into thin, small pieces. Peel a clove of garlic and mince it finely with a knife — use a knife rather than a press here. 2. Heat a large skillet over medium heat with the sesame oil (another vegetable oil works, but sesame is best). Once the oil is hot, add the beef and cook until lightly browned. 3. Add the prepared seaweed to the beef, stir, and cook for 1 minute. Transfer everything to a pot, pour in the water, set it over high heat, and bring to a boil. Once it boils, lower the heat and simmer for 15–20 minutes, until the seaweed is tender. 4. Now add the minced garlic and pour in the soy sauce. Stir well and taste, adding more soy sauce or a little salt as needed. Let it simmer one more minute, then take the pot off the heat. Done! Serve this healthy, fragrant soup with rice and kimchi. It's warming and a little out of the ordinary, with real Asian flavor. With a package of dried seaweed in the pantry, it's quick and easy to make whenever you want to treat yourself and your family to something special — and it's a great way to surprise guests with an original dish, too. Enjoy!
