Hot White Chocolate with Almonds and Coconut

Hot chocolate is a true treat for anyone with a sweet tooth. Whenever I go to a café (which is pretty often), I always order hot chocolate with ice cream. I decided to make something similar at home — but of course I couldn't just copy it exactly, I had to put my own spin on it. So instead of dark chocolate I used white, plus a few add-ins. It came out just sweet enough, never cloying, with a bold coconut flavor.

    1. Break the chocolate into pieces. You can use plain chocolate or one with add-ins; I used chocolate with almonds and coconut to play up those flavors.
    1. Pour the milk into a small saucepan, add the white chocolate pieces, and bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
    1. Dissolve the cornstarch in a little milk and pour it into the chocolate in a thin stream, stirring so no lumps form.
    1. Add the sliced almonds and shredded coconut to the milk-chocolate mixture.
    1. Turn the heat to low and cook for another 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
    1. Stir in the vanilla sugar.
    1. Pour the hot chocolate into mugs, top with whipped cream, and dust with cocoa.
