Layered Salad with Cod Liver, Hard Cheese, and Potato

Quick and delicious — a great party appetizer. Everyone knows the classic Mimosa salad. I'm not a fan of canned fish, with the exception of caviar and cod liver, but this salad I really love. For the dressing, use mayonnaise or sour cream with mustard, whichever you prefer.

Cooking method

  1. Step 1:

    Step 1

PREP Finely chop the leek and rinse it free of any dirt or grit (if needed). Grate the potatoes on a coarse grater, or mash them with a fork. Add the leek and mayonnaise (or sour cream with mustard) to the potatoes. Season with salt and pepper if you like. Separate the boiled eggs into whites and yolks. Grate the yolks and cheese and mix them together.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2

Now build the salad. I use a ring mold for a neat, attractive look. Bottom layer: potatoes with leek and mayonnaise. Grate the egg white over the top.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3

Next, the cod liver — mash it with a fork and add a little of its oil.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4

Top with the grated cheese-and-yolk mixture.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5

Add some fresh herbs — dill, parsley — if you'd like, then lift off the ring mold.
