Cooking method

  1. Step 1:

    Step 1

Prep the ingredients. Boil the beef in salted water until tender. Boil the potato, carrot, and beet in their skins, then peel them and grate each on the coarse side of a box grater, keeping them separate. Peel the apple, grate it, and toss with lemon juice so it doesn't brown. Cut the beef into small cubes, mix with the grated apple, and spread as the first layer in a bowl. Spread a layer of mayonnaise on top.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2

Next, a layer of grated potato and very finely chopped pickle. Spread with mayonnaise again. Scatter finely chopped onion over the top — a sweet onion variety works best here.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3

Then a layer of grated beet.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4

Top it off with a cap of grated carrot. You can use Korean-style spiced carrots for a sharper, more piquant flavor — if you have time, you can make them yourself ahead of time.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5

    Spread the top with mayonnaise.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6

Scatter chopped parsley over the top. Decorate with a rose made from pickled cucumber and a piece of pickled bell pepper. And that's it — let the salad chill in the refrigerator for at least two hours so the flavors meld. Enjoy!
