Strawberries in Sugar with Citric Acid for Winter

Put up these sunny berries and treat your loved ones all winter long! Strawberries canned in their own juice make a wonderful treat with tea and a great pie filling, too. Made this way, the berries turn out sweet, delicious, vibrant, and good for you.

    1. Sort through the berries and wash them.
    1. Cover the strawberries with the sugar mixed with the citric acid.
    1. Bring the berries to a boil, then lower the heat to a minimum.
    1. Cook the strawberries for 10 minutes, skimming off any foam.
    1. Ladle the berry mixture into sterilized jars and seal with sterilized lids.
    1. Turn the jars upside down and let them cool, then move them to a cool place for storage.
