- Wash the tomatoes, cut them into wedges, and purée them smooth in a blender (or run them through a meat grinder if you don't have one).
- Pour the purée into a pot, add the bay leaves and pepper, bring to a boil, and cook for 15 minutes.
- Peel the onion and garlic and purée them into a paste in the blender.
- Add the sugar, salt, mustard powder, vinegar, and the onion-garlic paste.
- Boil for 5 minutes and pour into pre-sterilized jars. Seal with metal lids.
- Wrap the jars in a warm blanket and leave for a day.
- Store in the cellar.
- This amount of ingredients made about 4.5 quarts (liters) of sauce for me.
