Homemade Apple Fruit Jellies (Marmalade)

A homemade treat with no nasty additives, for kids and grown-ups alike! If you're wary of store-bought gummies and candies, read on: make these and you'll completely change your mind, I promise! Here's how I make apple fruit jellies with gelatin. Not only do the kids adore them, so does my husband — and as for me, let's just say I'm first in line for a taste!

    1. Put the gelatin in a small bowl and cover with cold water. Let it sit for 10–15 minutes to bloom.
    1. Wash the apples, peel them, cut them into thin slices, and remove the cores and seeds.
    1. Put the apple slices in a saucepan, add the sugar, and cook over medium heat for about half an hour.
    1. Dissolve the cornstarch in the water, stir well, and pour it into the apple mixture in a thin stream, stirring constantly.
    1. Then blend the fruit mixture until you have an almost perfectly smooth applesauce.
    1. Warm the bloomed gelatin in the microwave for 15–20 seconds, then stir it into the applesauce until well combined.
    1. Pour the mixture into a mold and leave it to set completely (about an hour and a half).
    1. Turn the set jellies out of the mold and cut into cubes (for kids, I use cookie cutters — it looks fun and tempting), then roll in sugar.
