- First, cook the rice and let it cool. Shred the cabbage, put it in a deep bowl, and cover it with boiling water. Cover with a lid and let it steam. Peel the onion and carrots. Dice the onion and grate the carrots. Sauté them in vegetable oil until the onion is translucent and soft — just 2–3 minutes. After 10 minutes, drain the cabbage, squeeze it well, and put it in a bowl. Add the ground meat, rice, and the sautéed vegetables. Crack in the egg, add salt, and mix thoroughly. In a separate bowl, combine the tomato paste with 60 g of the sour cream and the boiling water, then add the pepper and bay leaf. With wet hands, shape the mixture into oval cabbage rolls. Arrange them in a deep baking dish. Pour the sauce over them so it covers them about two-thirds of the way up. Bake in an oven preheated to 350°F (180°C) for 40–45 minutes. Serve hot, drizzled with the remaining sour cream and garnished with fresh herbs. Enjoy!
