Coffee in an Electric Cezve

Coffee made in an electric cezve is a modern classic! True coffee lovers are always on the lookout for a place to enjoy a cup—and, ideally, a new way to brew it. Traveling coffee fans like me can't always find a way to brew coffee the classic way, in a cezve. An electric portable cezve is a great solution. Nothing fancy or extra—just convenience. Brewing coffee in it is no harder than in a regular one.

  • Start, as always, by pouring fresh water into the cezve. The amount of water will depend on the size of your cezve. Next, add 1–3 spoons of your favorite ground coffee. The amount is up to your taste—I stick to this ratio: 1 tsp per 1 cup (200 ml). Add sugar if you like. Now switch the cezve on. What happens next is up to your model: if your electric cezve has an auto-shutoff feature, you can go about your business until the coffee is done. Mine doesn't, so I have to keep an eye on it, just like with a stovetop cezve. Wait about 3 minutes. When the foam starts to rise, that's your sign the coffee is ready. Finally, pour it into a cup—and be sure to savor it!
