Simple Oatmeal Porridge with Sugar and Milk

A great, nourishing breakfast for kids and grown-ups alike. Use store-bought or fresh farm milk — the richer the milk, the more filling the porridge.

  • Put the oats in a colander and rinse them with cold water. Bring the milk to a boil and stir in the oats. Take the pot off the heat and let it sit for 2 minutes so the oats can swell. Season with salt and stir. Let it stand for another 2 minutes or so, then return it to the heat; lower the heat and cook for a couple more minutes. The porridge will thicken. Turn off the heat and let it rest a moment. That's it — time to enjoy your oatmeal treat.
