Orange and Lemon Jam with Cinnamon

A bright, thick, fragrant jam with a rich flavor. My husband loves oranges and anything to do with them. Not long ago we bought orange jam at the store. He polished it off in the blink of an eye, of course. I thought about it for a bit and decided to try making it myself at home. Needless to say, my husband was thrilled! If you'd like to wow your own family, just follow the steps below.

  • First, peel the zest off the oranges with a thin knife, then cut the fruit into 8 pieces, sprinkle with sugar, and let them sit until they release their juice. Then add the lemon juice. Now boil the water with the lemon peel until the peel softens, and add this to the oranges. Cut the zest into thin strips. Set the oranges to cook in the resulting syrup for a few hours (don't forget to add the cinnamon), until the preserve has reduced by about half. When the fruit is nearly done, purée it in a blender, adding the pre-cut zest. Let the orange jam cook a little longer.
