Sea Buckthorn, Chokeberry, and Apple Compote

Healthy and delicious — a compote the whole family will love! Sea buckthorn is a wonderful folk remedy that not only helps heal the body but also strengthens it. Its berries are rich in all sorts of vitamins and oils: 3-8% fatty oil, vitamin C, carotene, B vitamins, vitamin E, folic acid, vitamin K, tannins, and organic acids (oleic, stearic, linoleic, and palmitic). Sea buckthorn even contains serotonin, the so-called "happiness hormone." So this compote won't just support your body through the winter — it'll lift your mood, too.

  • Wash and sort through all the berries. Pour boiling water over them and blanch for 10 minutes. Pour the resulting liquid into another saucepan, add the sugar, and cook it into a syrup — don't forget to skim off the foam. Pour the hot syrup over the berries in the jars and sterilize them for 20 minutes. The compote is ready. Jars of compote keep best in a cool place.
