Cabbage Shchi with Chicken Wings
A tasty, hearty lunch for grown-ups and kids alike. Shchi made on chicken broth comes out lighter than with pork or beef. Fresh tomatoes work well in it, and you can use sauerkraut in place of fresh cabbage. Serve it with sour cream.
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
Gather the ingredients for this tasty cabbage shchi. Peel and wash the potatoes, carrot, and onion. Rinse the cabbage and remove its outer leaves.
-

Cut the carrot into sticks.
-
Step 3:
Start the soup cooking with the chicken wings, carrot, onion, and salt.
-
Step 4:
Cut the potatoes into cubes.
-
Step 5:
Quarter the cabbage, cut out the core, and shred it finely.
-
Step 6:
20 minutes after the soup comes to a boil, add the cabbage and potatoes. Cook until they're done.
-
Step 7:
Add the bay leaf. Cook for another 3 minutes, then take the pot off the heat.
-

Let the soup rest for 10 minutes. Before serving, remove the bay leaf, or it'll turn the soup bitter. Ladle the soup into bowls, sprinkle with herbs, and dig in.
