Starch Noodle and Ham Salad

- Drop the starch noodles into boiling, salted water and cook them according to the package directions. Once they're done, rinse them under cold running water and drain off the excess liquid. Transfer them to a large bowl. 2. Cut the cucumbers into thin matchsticks and add them to the noodles. 3. Peel the carrot and grate it on a julienne grater (the kind used for Korean-style carrots). Heat a skillet, add the vegetable oil, and sauté the grated carrot. 4. Add the ham, cut into sticks, sauté briefly with the carrot, and transfer to the bowl. 5. Dress the salad with the soy sauce, add the minced garlic, and season with salt and pepper. Toss everything together well.
