Krupnik - soup with potatoes and millet

A thick first course that interestingly diversifies the home menu. Today I want to share a favorite culinary recipe of my grandmother, who lives in Belarus. As a first course, she very often cooks "Krupnik". This is a very tasty and satisfying dish. There are no carrots in the recipe, but I added it for beauty

Take any cereal you wish. My grandmother usually uses barley, millet or pearl barley. Rinse it thoroughly. At this time, put a pot of water on the fire. When it boils, pour out the grits there and cook it until it is ready. Grits have a feature of pouring into the pan, so be sure to stir it. At the end of the cooking process of cereals, add potatoes to it, which cut into small cubes. In addition, while the grits are cooking, you need to fry the bacon with onions and put it in a saucepan 10 minutes before the soup is ready. Salt and pepper should also be added at the very end. There are no recommendations here. Everything is done to taste. At the very end, put a bay leaf in a krupnik for flavor. The krupnik should be thick. This is a very satisfying meal. Eat it for your health with finely chopped greens.
