Step 1:
How to make sweet croutons from a loaf with an egg in a frying pan? Prepare the products. Take white bread — loaf, wheat, toast. Very tasty croutons are made from rich bread, such as cakes or sweet rolls. Depending on what kind of bread you have chosen, adjust the amount of sugar. Sometimes I don't add it at all, but sprinkle the finished croutons with powdered sugar.
Step 2:
Wash the egg well. Drive it into a bowl deep enough to fit a piece of bread into it. Add sugar and a little salt. It is necessary for the balance of taste. Beat the egg with a fork or whisk, achieving the dissolution of sugar. Then pour in the milk and mix again until smooth. You can increase the amount of milk if you have a small egg.
Step 3:
Put a frying pan on medium heat, pour vegetable oil on it. Preheat it for a few minutes. You can also use butter, but I advise you to add a little vegetable oil to it, then the butter will not burn when frying. Dip the bread slices in the egg-milk mixture on both sides. Put them in a frying pan. Make the fire small.
Step 4:
You can even hold the bread in the filling for a little while, then the croutons will be even softer. Just do it in advance so that the oil does not overheat.
Step 5:
When one side is browned, flip the croutons to the other side. I have a frying pan with a non-stick coating, so there were no problems with turning it over. If you have a regular one, then heat the oil well on it before you put the bread, then the croutons will turn over easily. Fry them until golden brown and on the second side. Remove the finished croutons on a plate and serve to the table.
Step 6:
When serving, you can add berries, pieces of fruit and whipped cream to them. You can sprinkle them with powder or pour jam over them, but then do not put sugar in the milk mixture. Croutons are especially delicious when warm. Bon appetit!
Be sure to wash the eggs before use, as even the seemingly clean shell may contain harmful bacteria. It is best to use food detergents and a brush.
How do I know if an egg is fresh? Break it into a separate container. First of all, there should be no unpleasant smell. The protein of fresh eggs will be transparent and clean. The yolk should not spread and will be shiny, convex, homogeneous.
Use oil with a high smoking temperature for frying! Any oils are useful only until a certain temperature is reached - the point of smoking, at which the oil begins to burn and toxic substances, including carcinogens, are formed in it.
Unrefined oils, with rare exceptions, have a low smoking point. There are a lot of unfiltered organic particles in them, which quickly begin to burn.
Refined oils are more resistant to heating, and their smoking point is higher. If you are going to cook food in the oven, on a frying pan or grill, make sure that you use oil with a high smoking point. The most common of the oils with a high smoking point: refined varieties of sunflower, olive and grape.
