- DOUGH: 1. Stir together the sour cream, oil, baking soda, and salt. 2. Add the flour and knead into a soft dough that doesn't stick to your hands. 3. Wrap the dough in plastic and chill it in the refrigerator. FILLING: 4. Cut the chicken into small pieces. 5. Chop the onion and start it frying in an oiled skillet. 6. Dice the carrots and add them to the onion. 7. Cook the vegetables until soft. 8. Add the chicken, stir, and cook until the meat turns white. 9. Season with salt and pepper to taste, stir, and remove from the heat. 10. Stir in the sauce and peas. If you like, you can also add diced potatoes, mushrooms, or anything else to taste. SAUCE: 11. Melt the butter in a skillet. 12. Whisk in the flour. 13. Pour in the warm milk, whisking. 14. Cook, stirring, until the sauce thickens. 15. Season with salt and pepper, stir, and remove from the heat. PIE: 16. Spread the filling in a 10-inch (26 cm) baking dish. 17. Roll out the dough to the diameter of the dish. 18. Brush the rim of the dish with egg yolk. 19. Lay the dough over the filling. 20. Press the edges firmly onto the dish. 21. Cut a hole in the center of the crust. 22. Brush the whole top with egg yolk. 23. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 25 minutes. 24. Cover with foil and bake another 10–15 minutes. TO SERVE: 25. Serve the pie hot. 26. Cut a circle out of the center of the crust. 27. Spoon the filling from the center onto each plate and tear off a piece of the golden crust to go with it. It's delicious — give it a try! Enjoy!
