Cabbage Salad with Sausage and Corn

Sometimes you have to resort to a few tricks to surprise everyone with a new dish! The things we women have to dream up to surprise our households and add variety to the table. Well, I have one recipe for a salad with sausage. Either white or red cabbage works here. I like red better, but that's a matter of taste, of course. As for the sausage, you can use either boiled or smoked.

  • Take all of these ingredients, shred the vegetables finely, then cut the sausage into strips. I add corn — I've also tried it with green peas, which I always keep on hand in the freezer, and that's tasty too — then I mix it and dress it with mayonnaise. If you don't like mayo, sour cream works too, ideally homemade or a very rich store-bought kind. As you can see, it comes together very quickly and goes with any side, whether kasha or potatoes. Instead of sausage you can use boiled chicken. I once made it with pork heart, too. In short, you can improvise to your heart's content. The main thing is that the salad always turns out tasty and wholesome — especially now, in winter, when our bodies don't get many vitamins from food.
