Cooking method

  1. Step 1:

    Step 1

    Our ingredients.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2

Pour the vegetable oil into the slow-cooker bowl, turn on the "Sauté" or "Bake" mode, and let it heat up. Cut the meat into fairly small pieces — about 3 x 3 cm.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3

Add the meat to the slow cooker to brown a little.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4

    Cut the onion into half-rings.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5

Once the meat has browned a little, give it a stir...

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6

...then add the onion and stir.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7

Let it cook for a couple of minutes while we deal with the carrots.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8

    Cut the carrots into sticks.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9

    Add them to the meat.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10

Stir and let everything cook together for a few minutes.

  11. Step 11:

    Step 11

Add salt, pepper, and your favorite spices — mine is khmeli-suneli (a Georgian herb-and-spice blend)...

  12. Step 12:

    Step 12

...and pour in boiling water to cover the meat. Boiling water is a must — it "seals" the meat and keeps the juices inside, which is exactly why it turns out so tender. Stir, close the slow cooker, and set the "Stew" mode for 1.5 hours. You can check in a few times to stir and watch the water level — top it up if it boils down too much (though there's usually plenty and you won't need to). Meanwhile, you can start on a side dish.

  13. Step 13:

    Step 13

Ten minutes before the end of the program, press in the garlic and stir well. When the program beeps, turn off the slow cooker. One more tip: leave the meat on the "Keep Warm" setting for at least 15 minutes — it gives the meat a wonderful flavor and unusual tenderness.

  14. Step 14:

    Step 14

Then plate the meat, add a side and some fresh vegetables if you like, and enjoy the taste of the most tender meat! Enjoy!
