Sea bass baked in the oven

Portioned fish dish, almost boneless. Sea bass baked in the oven can be cooked for lunch or dinner. No prior preparation is required for this. I will use fresh basil to flavor the fish. But you can exclude it or replace it with dried, for example.

Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 40 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to bake sea bass in the oven? Before you start cooking, prepare all the necessary ingredients. It is advisable to use a chilled fish that has not been frozen. But if there is only frozen, then let it thaw independently at room temperature. It is not necessary to use hot water for this. Because of this, the finished fish will be dry and not very tasty, since all the juices will leave it.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Fresh fish must be cleaned. Make a longitudinal incision on the abdomen and remove the insides from it. Then rinse the fish well in running water. Carefully - the fish has sharp fins. If desired, they can be deleted. To serve the fish beautifully to the table, it is better not to cut off the head and tail.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Sprinkle the fish inside and out with a little lemon juice. This will remove the unpleasant, intrusive fishy smell.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Then coat the fish inside and out with olive oil and sprinkle with a little salt and spices. As a spice, you can use a ready-made set of spices for fish or just add a little dried herbs. I use some dried dill.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Prepare the baking dish. It can be ceramic, glass or metal. Peel the onion from the husk and rinse in cold water. Cut the peeled onion into half rings. Wash the tomatoes well and cut into slices, removing the stalk. Grease the bottom of the mold with a small amount of olive oil, put the chopped onions and tomatoes.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Then lay out the prepared fish.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Add a few basil leaves. A couple of leaves inside and a few outside. Put the form with the fish in the oven, preheated to 200 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Be guided by your oven.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

After the specified time, the fish will be ready. Remove it from the oven and transfer it to a serving dish.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

If desired, you can supplement the dish with boiled potatoes or fresh vegetables. Enjoy your meal!

Choose juicy tomatoes, but dense. Soft fruits do not keep their shape well, in the process of slicing and cooking they will spread into a shapeless mass and spoil the appearance of the dish.
