Rice Kutia Made with Water
Give it a try — and you'll see why the Slavs adored this dish! Kutia is a delicious, wholesome ceremonial dish of the Slavic peoples. The recipe is quick and easy to make.

To make this wonderful dish, I start by rinsing the rice.

Then pour about one cup of water into a pot and set it on the stove.

As soon as the water boils, add the rice, cook it for about two to three minutes, and drain it in a colander.

Rinse it with cold water.

Put it back in the pot, cover with water, and cook until fully done.

After that, drain it in a colander, let all the water run off, and put it on a plate.

Pour boiling water over the poppy seeds, then drain the water.

And crush them in a mortar, or you can use a rolling pin.

Pour boiling water over the almonds, peel off the skins, and then pound them in the bowl for the kutia (you can use any nuts).

After that, add sugar,

the ground poppy seeds, and a little water, and mix all these ingredients thoroughly.

Pour boiling water over the raisins, drain it, and rinse them with cold water.

Then mix the raisins into the rice mixture.

Dust the top with powdered sugar (or regular sugar) and decorate with walnuts.
