Homemade Orange Lemonade
The tastiest, brightest, most fragrant drink - with a real summer feel! This homemade orange lemonade will win you over with its lovely flavor and gorgeous aroma. It's wonderfully refreshing and a real mood-lifter. To keep the drink from turning bitter, use one little trick you'll find in the recipe!
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
How do you make homemade orange lemonade? Get everything ready. The lemonade itself needs just one orange. But if you'd like to drop a few slices into the pitcher or glasses, keep one more on hand. Choose a larger orange for the lemonade - mine weighs 280 grams. Rinse it thoroughly and pour boiling water over it.
-
Step 2:
Put the orange in the freezer for 2-3 hours until it's frozen solid. Then take it out and let it warm to room temperature so it's easy to cut. Why freeze the orange? After thawing it gives off more juice and loses the bitterness that comes from the peel.
-
Step 3:
Cut the thawed orange into pieces, remove the seeds, and put it in a food processor.
-
Step 4:
Chop the orange finely. There's no need to puree it.
-
Step 5:
Put the chopped orange in a saucepan and pour in 500 ml of water. Stir and let it sit for 30-40 minutes to infuse.
-
Step 6:
Then strain the drink through a fine sieve. Add another 1.5 liters of water, the sugar, and the citric acid to the strained liquid. Stir well until the sugar dissolves, then put the drink in the fridge to infuse and chill a little. Go by your own taste and the sweetness of the orange when deciding how much sugar to add.
-
Step 7:
For a quick chill, drop a few ice cubes into the glass. This drink keeps for a day at room temperature - though it usually gets drunk much faster. Enjoy!
- Instead of citric acid, you can add a little lemon juice.
- To dissolve the sugar faster, first stir it into a little warm water, then add it to the drink along with the rest of the water.
- You can use a sugar substitute instead of sugar.
- For the best result, use neutral-tasting filtered or bottled water. Tap water can give the drink an unpleasant, off taste.
