Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 1 h 45 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to cook peas in a slow cooker? Prepare the products. For this dish, it is best to use chopped peas. It cooks faster than whole. Yes, and it cooks better. Pre-sort the peas, removing excess garbage and spoiled grains. Sometimes small stones can be found in peas. Be careful.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Rinse the peas under running water until the water becomes clear. Then, if time permits, you can soak the peas for a couple of hours. Pre-soaked peas cook faster. You can soak it both in cold water and in hot water. There is another secret to faster cooking of legumes is adding a pinch of baking soda to the water. If you do not have time for soaking, then cook the pea immediately after washing.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Peel and grate fresh carrots. You can also cut it into large cubes or cubes.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Turn on the slow cooker. Select the mode suitable for frying. That's what I call it, "Frying". Pour vegetable oil. After the oil heats up a little, put the carrots in a bowl and fry it for four to five minutes, stirring with a special spoon. You can add finely chopped onions to the carrots. You can also cook pea porridge with the pressure of tomatoes, sweet peppers or without vegetables at all.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Then add the washed peas to the bowl of the multivark.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Fill the peas with cold water. Add salt and your favorite spices. You can add dried basil, dill, ground black pepper. Select the mode for extinguishing, set the time to 1.5 hours. During this time, the peas will completely boil. If you like a more homogeneous mass, grind the finished porridge with a blender or crush it with a pusher. When serving, you can add fried bacon pieces to the pea dish or sprinkle it with crackers. Bon appetit!

Serve the pea as a side dish or as an independent dish.
You can add butter or sour cream to the porridge.

Keep in mind that the final result in this dish also depends on how you chop the carrots: grated carrots will turn into mush during heat treatment and mix evenly with the rest of the ingredients, cut into strips or cubes will retain their shape.

Keep in mind that the cooking time and mode are indicated approximately in the recipe. All slow cookers work differently and even the same models of the same manufacturer may have their own characteristics. Before you start cooking a new dish for you in a slow cooker, carefully study the instructions for it, and then in practice try to cook dishes that are familiar to you first, and then new ones, choosing the mode and time individually for your own technique.

For cooking, it is better to use filtered or bottled water that is neutral to taste. If you use tap water, keep in mind that it can give the dish an unpleasant characteristic taste.
