Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 20 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

To freeze dill for the winter, we will need: dill greens, water, ice molds (preferably silicone, ice is easier to extract from them), paper towels, bags for freezing or food plastic containers. For harvesting, it is best to use already mature dill with a fleshy stem, and not young. First, the dill should be rinsed well under running water.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Then lay out the washed dill on a paper towel.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

We soak the top with a second paper towel.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

We separate the solid part of the stem from the dill greens, but we are not in a hurry to throw out the stems, they will still be useful to us.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

    Finely chop the dill greens.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Put in a special tight package for freezing. Instead of a package, you can use a plastic container with a lid.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Release excess air from the package.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

And collapse it. It turns out a thin briquette. You can make a lot of such briquettes, with different greens and stack them on top of each other. They take up very little space in the freezer. If desired, you can sign the package on top with a marker and put the date of freezing. The greens remain crumbly after freezing. Such greens can be used in winter instead of fresh, for example, by pouring a few tablespoons into a salad.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

I also freeze the stems of dill, only in a different way. First, we cut them finely (in principle, you can not cut them, since then we will grind them with a blender).

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

Pour half a glass of water.

  11. Step 11:

    Step 11.

Grind with a blender as small as possible so that the hard parts of the dill stalks do not come across in the finished billet.

  12. Step 12:

    Step 12.

Lay out the dill gruel in ice molds and freeze. In the same way, you can harvest not only stems, but also dill greens. You won't need a blender for this. Just lay out the chopped dill greens on the molds and pour a small amount of water.

  13. Step 13:

    Step 13.

After freezing, we extract the dill pieces of ice. We transfer it to a plastic container or a plastic bag for further storage. And in winter we use a couple of such pieces of ice when cooking soups or sauces.

Bon appetit!
