Step-by-step cooking
Step 1:
To prepare the dough, take the margarine out of the refrigerator and cut it into pieces.Let it lie down in a warm place so that it becomes soft.
Step 2:
Add a pinch of salt and powdered sugar to the soft margarine. It is best to use powder, not sugar, as it will dissolve faster in the dough and no sugar grains will be felt.
Step 3:
Then add cold water and sifted flour. Knead the dough with your hands.
Step 4:
At first it will seem that a lot of flour has been added. But, despite this, continue to knead.
Step 5:
With careful kneading, the dough will acquire its shape and will not stick to your hands at all. The pie dough is ready. Cover the finished dough with a film and let it lie in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour. During this time, the dough will rest a little and be ready for use. Use it for its intended purpose.
Step 6:
I got this kind of pie from this dough with a diameter of 22cm. 2/3 of the total volume went to the bottom and 1/3 to the top. It is convenient to roll out the dough for the lower part with a rolling pin between two sheets of food film. With this rolling, it does not crumble, does not tear and it turns out very thin. Try it!
There are several options for making shortbread dough, but I am sharing with you one of the basic recipes for its preparation.
Shortbread dough can be used for a wide variety of baking - whether it's cookies or pies, baskets or tartlets. Cottage cheese, jam, berries or fruits are perfect as a filling for such a pie.
The ingredients for making the dough are all available and there are, practically, in every refrigerator. And the use of margarine in the recipe, instead of butter, makes the recipe even more affordable. A budget version of the basis for a delicious pie.
Shortbread dough without eggs turns out more crumbly and tender.
For a more caramel flavor, you can use powdered sugar from brown sugar.
