Salad with Salted Pink Salmon

You can make it with any salmon-family fish — salted or smoked. For big family celebrations I usually make a layered "Dandelion" salad with red fish. This time, for my son's birthday, I was short on time, so I made a simplified version — leaving out the cheese and swapping the apples for fresh garden cucumbers. The result was a new, interesting-tasting salad that everyone loved just as much as the original.

Cooking method

  1. Step 1:

    Step 1

How do you make salad with salted pink salmon? Gather the ingredients.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2

Bone and skin the salted pink salmon. Cut the flesh into cubes.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3

Boil the potatoes in their skins until tender, cool them, peel them, and cut into cubes. I had one large potato. After boiling it, I peeled it, cut it into 4 pieces, and baked it in the oven for about 15 minutes — it made the flavor more interesting.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4

Boil the carrots in their skins until tender, cool them, peel them, and cut into cubes.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5

Hard-boil the eggs, cool, and peel them. Cut them into small cubes.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6

Cut the cucumbers into small cubes too.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7

Combine the pink salmon, eggs, potatoes, and cucumbers in a salad bowl.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8

    Dress it with mayonnaise.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9

    And mix well.

  • It's better to make the mayonnaise yourself — it's tastier and better for you. You'll find some good homemade mayonnaise recipes here. As a dressing you can also use sour cream or plain yogurt instead of mayonnaise. Use them on their own or mix them with mayonnaise in any ratio you like — that will cut the calories.
  • How do you hard-boil eggs? To keep them from cracking, put them in cold water and set them over low heat. Boil for 9 minutes after the water comes to a boil, then cover with cold water and cool. The sudden temperature change makes them easier to peel.
