Cooking method

  1. Step 1:

    Step 1

How do you make a lavash roll with sausage and cheese? Gather the ingredients you'll need. Use any sausage you like: dry-cured, cooked-smoked, or boiled (Doctor's, Dairy). My lavash is in one long piece. If you have several small sheets, you can lay them out into a large rectangle, slightly overlapping, or build the roll up in layers, spreading each with mayonnaise and sprinkling on the filling.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2

Cut the sausage into small sticks or cubes.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3

Wash the tomato, dry it, and cut it into small slices. I originally wanted to cut the tomatoes into thin rounds, but for easier rolling I then cut each round into sticks. If the tomatoes are too watery, they can make the lavash soggy. So it's better to remove the cores of such tomatoes.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4

Grate the cheese on a coarse or medium grater.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5

Wash, dry, and finely chop the herbs.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6

Combine the mayonnaise with the herbs and a clove of garlic put through a press. Mix everything well.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7

Spread the lavash evenly with the mayonnaise sauce. I also sprinkled some chopped fresh herbs on top.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8

Spread the sausage pieces evenly on top and sprinkle everything with grated cheese. It's best to arrange the sausage pieces so they don't tear the lavash when you roll it up. I laid them parallel to the short edge.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9

Arrange the tomato slices on top of the cheese.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10

Roll the lavash up into a tight roll.

  11. Step 11:

    Step 11

Wrap the roll in plastic wrap or a plastic bag and put it in the fridge for 1 hour to chill and soak.

  12. Step 12:

    Step 12

Before serving, cut the roll into pieces. Enjoy!

  • How do you choose good lavash? First of all, check the manufacture date on the package. Don't buy expired flatbread. Fresh lavash should have a pleasant smell. Look closely to make sure there are no spots or signs of mold on it.
  • If you like, you can serve this roll hot. To do that, brush it with beaten egg, put it on a baking sheet, and bake it in an oven preheated to 180°C for about 15-20 minutes, until a golden crust forms on the surface. You can also turn on the grill setting.
