Homemade Tiramisu Bites
The famous Italian dessert in bite-sized form! In 15 minutes! Unlike the traditional version, this one is served as individual balls made from the classic tiramisu ingredients: ladyfingers, mascarpone, and coffee. The bites are no-bake, very quick, and fuss-free.
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
Gather the ingredients. I deliberately left the cookies in their package, which makes them easier to crush. My coffee comes from a coffee maker, but you can just brew instant — as long as it's strong. You can skip the sugar; the cookies are sweet enough.
-
Step 2:
Brew a little coffee — a few tablespoons is enough. Add sugar to taste; I added a teaspoon, but you could use less. Stir in the sugar and let the coffee cool a bit.
-
Step 3:
Crush the cookies. I took a rolling pin and tapped right on the package — the film is sturdy and didn't tear. But you could use a blender or just pour the cookies into a sturdy bag and tap that instead. It doesn't matter how; the goal is a fine crumb. Even if you have slightly larger pieces left, no worries — they'll soften later from the cheese and coffee, since these cookies absorb moisture very well.
-
Step 4:
Tip the crushed cookies into a bowl and pour in the coffee. Add the cheese.
-
Step 5:
Using a spoon, or your hands, mix the mixture thoroughly until everything is fully combined. If it stays dry as you mix, add a little more coffee. You should end up with a soft, pliable mixture that's easy to shape.
-
Step 6:
Roll the mixture into walnut-sized balls. Once they're all done, refrigerate them for half an hour.
-
Step 7:
Pour some cocoa powder onto a plate. Roll each ball in the cocoa.
-
Step 8:
Melt the chocolate any way you like — in the microwave or a double boiler. Then pour it into a bag or piping bag. I just put the broken chocolate in a sturdy bag and dipped it in hot water for a few minutes. Snip a small tip off the bag and pipe lines onto the bites with the chocolate.
-
Step 9:
Refrigerate the finished bites for another half hour so the chocolate sets.
- The bites turned out very tasty! They're similar to the familiar "potato" cakes. You can add various flavorings to the cookie mixture: vanilla, cinnamon, alcohol. You can also coat the bites in melted chocolate.
