-
Step 2:
Take a large enamel basin and cut 3 kilograms of well-washed fresh apples into rough medium pieces.
-
Step 3:
Pour 300 ml of water over the chopped apples and set the basin on the stove.
-
Step 4:
Cover the basin, turn the heat to just above medium, and bring the apples to a boil, stirring two or three times along the way.
-
Step 5:
After 20 minutes, stir the apples, cover again, and keep cooking another 15 minutes.
-
Step 6:
Take the basin off the heat and blend the apples until smooth.
-
Step 7:
Add 150–200 grams of sugar to the applesauce, depending on how sweet your apples are.
-
Step 8:
Stir the sugar into the applesauce well.
-
Step 9:
Set the basin back on the stove, cover, and cook the sauce over medium heat for about 10–15 minutes, stirring often, so the sugar dissolves completely.
-
Step 10:
Add half a teaspoon of citric acid and stir well, then cover for a minute or two and turn off the heat.
-
Step 11:
Spoon the hot applesauce into clean, sterilized jars, filling them right to the top.
-
Step 12:
Seal the jars tightly with sterilized lids, turn them upside down to check that they don't leak, then cover them with a warm blanket until completely cool.
