Milk Jelly with Banana and Raspberries

Delicious, delicate, and easy to make — and it tastes just like pudding! The banana turns ordinary jelly into something pudding-like and creamy. It's a treat kids will love, and it looks festive on the table to boot.

Cooking method

  1. Step 1:

    Step 1

Gather your ingredients: milk, sugar, berries, and a banana, peeled and sliced. I also use a packet of raspberry-flavored gelatin dessert.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2

Stir a couple of sheets of gelatin into the hot milk until dissolved, then add and dissolve the sugar.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3

Once the milk has cooled a little, add the banana slices — and the raspberries, if you like. I first dissolve a packet of raspberry gelatin in a cup of hot water, let it cool, and pour it into the milk. Don't add the gelatin dessert to hot milk, or the milk will curdle. Blend everything thoroughly.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4

Divide the berries among dessert glasses and pour the banana-milk mixture over them.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5

If you blend raspberries (or, in my case, the raspberry gelatin) right into the milk, the flavor comes out richer with a nice tang, and the color turns a prettier pink.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6

The jelly sets in 1.5–2 hours. If you like, finish it with grated chocolate on top. Serve with tea or coffee.

  • This milk jelly is a hit with grown-ups and kids alike. It's quite simple to make — the main thing is to wait for it to set. Milk, banana, and raspberry give it a one-of-a-kind flavor. I keep the sugar light because I enjoy a little tartness. Fresh berries are best, but frozen work too. Along with regular gelatin, I also use a packet of raspberry gelatin dessert dissolved in a cup of hot water. You can make it in layers, but that takes extra time — I like to mix everything together and just enjoy the flavor. Be sure to add the dissolved gelatin chilled into cooled milk, then blend it all again; I love how the blender works air into the mixture and makes it foamy. You can decorate the set jelly with berries or a mint leaf, but I prefer grated chocolate, which pairs beautifully with the raspberry. The dessert comes out thick, soft, delicious, and pudding-like. Serve it for a party or just to treat yourself after a regular dinner — it brings a little festive cheer to an ordinary day!
