Condensed milk (condensed milk) — concentrated milk, which is usually prepared with sugar. The first factory for the production of condensed milk in Russia appeared in Orenburg in 1881.
The technology of condensed milk preparation was patented on August 19, 1856 by the American inventor Gale Borden, his goal was to come up with a way of long-term storage of products. Returning from a trade show from London in 1851, he witnessed the death of several children due to poisoning with substandard milk from sick cows, from that moment Borden began to thicken milk. In 1858, the world's first condensed milk factory was opened in the USA, and with the outbreak of the Civil War, the product began to be produced in huge quantities to supply soldiers of the North with it. Borden's post-war fame allowed him to organize several new factories, transfer a thriving company to his sons, and himself end his days in a small Texas town named after him by Borden.
